BLACK POWDER

The Barrie Gun Club is fortunate to be the home training ground of the Maple Leaf International Muzzle Loading Association (MLIMLA). A number of BGC members are also MLIMLA members and compete actively in different muzzle loading events held nationally and international around the globe each year. Although the primary emphasis is on competition, club members are always welcome to participate in the muzzle loading discipline.

The MLIMLA was created for the purpose of promoting and engaging in Muzzle Loading competition. This would be conducted at a higher level then the regular recreation shooter at the local gun club. This type of Muzzle Loading Shooting encompasses the regular shooting disciplines including Rifle, Handgun and Shotgun, each with many different individual events. Each of these different events demands a different type of shooting expertise and ability. The events, with the exception of trap, are shot from all three shooting positions; Standing, Prone and Kneeling.

A selection of the international style events at the BGC includes the following. In addition, various domestic style events including team shoots and skeet shooting are also held from time-to-time.
