ACTION SHOTGUN

IPSC
International Practical Shooting Confederation or ‘IPSC’ is a discipline recognized and shot all over the world – all matches, regardless of geographic location following the same set of rules, with shooters moving through each ‘stage’ engaging targets within the allowable area. IPSC includes pistol, rifle and shotgun variants, so there’s something for everyone. We offer an IPSC practice for members each Wednesday, and various level matches for pistol and shotgun throughout the year. In order to participate BGC members must hold their “black badge”.
The Barrie Gun Club offers its clay shooters a chance to enjoy it all… American Skeet, American Trap, Wobble Trap, Black Powder Trap and 5-Stand, under our newly constructed year-round, fully covered 5-Stand structure. Our Clay Fields are open to our members Wednesdays afternoons, along with Saturdays and Sundays. We often host Ontario Skeet Shooting Association (OSSA) Sanctioned Tournaments. During the winter months we have a booming ‘Penguin’ House League, often seeing over 50 members compete in friendly competition in the span of one weekend.

JUNIOR PROGRAMS
IDPA offers an exciting forum for practical shooters in which truly practical equipment, techniques and courses of fire are mandated. Prior to IDPA, there was no place to compete with common service pistols.
When you come to an IDPA match, you can not only use your standard service pistol, you can be completely competitive with it! Other shooting sports have become equipment races; IDPA will not.
Black Powder shooting is a target sport for historical muzzle loading firearms loaded with traditional black powder. Black powder practices and matches fall into many disciplines including clay target competitions, matchlock, flintlock and percussion pistols, revolvers, muskets, rifles and shotguns. Pistol and revolver matches are commenced at 25 and 50m, rifle matches are shot at distances from 50m to 150m. The firearms are divided between the classes by age and technical specifications. Our club hosts the Maple Leaf International Muzzle Loading Association, which includes shooters who travel globally to compete in this challenging sport. For 2026 the MLIMLA is sending a team to Austria this summer for the World Championships.
When we don’t have snow on the ground our beautiful archery range comes alive! The club provides a variety of 3D targets at varying distances from 5 Metres out to 40 Metres for all types of bows with their field tips. We also host multiple ‘Learn to shoot archery’ events for our adult members, alongside our junior archery program that runs in the Summer months.

COWBOY ACTION
The Bar-E Ranch is a dedicated group of like-minded shooters who are smitten by the fantasy and true grit of the “old west. Cowboy Action Shooting is a multi-faceted shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the taming of the Old West: single action revolvers, pistol caliber lever action rifles, and old time shotguns. The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized, “Old West” style. It is a timed sport in which shooters compete for prestige on a course of different shooting stages.
As the game of Cowboy Action Shooting has evolved, our members have developed and adopted an attitude towards their participation called “The Spirit of the Game.” It is a code by which we live. Competing in “The Spirit of the Game” means you fully participate in what the competition asks. You try your best to dress the part, use the appropriate competition tools, and respect the traditions of the Old West. Some folks would call it nothing more than good sportsmanship. We call it “Spirit of the Game.”
So if you want to try something unique, put a new spin on an old lifestyle and share great times with new friends, then come out and join an ever-growing group of people.
We hold practice matches every second and fourth Saturday of each month throughout the year.
